Dattaraj V. “Raj” Salgaocar is a qualified production engineer from VJTI, Bombay University, and MBA (Finance) from the acclaimed Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania. He has a brilliant academic record being a Wadia scholar in college and Tata scholar for higher studies. He has been instrumental in the group’s diversification into hospitality and related fields.

He set up the state’s most revered not-for-profit art foundation, the Sunaparanta-Goa Centre for the Arts, with the objective of pioneering, promoting and preserving visual arts in Goa.

He set up V.M. Salgaocar Konkani Samshodhan Kendra, the Centre for Research in Konkani, which aims to promote fundamental research in Konkani language, literature, music, folk tradition and Konkani society at large, spread over the entire western coast of India.

He heads the Board of Trustees of one of the most prestigious schools in Goa, Sharada Mandir School in Panaji. He has been the President and headed key trade bodies like the Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Goa Mineral Ore Exporters’ Association.

Raj is married to Dipti Salgaocar. They have two children, Vikram and Isheta.

He is an avid wildlife lover and photographer. He is passionate about sports and has served as the president of the Goa Cricket Association and on the Board of BCCI.
